RACE DEBRIEF

Max Verstappen completed a practice clean sweep at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with another table-topping performance in FP3, as Red Bull held a significant advantage over the rest of the field.

Verstappen worked his way down to a time of 1m 28.485s on the soft compound tyre to finish the session more than half a second clear of team mate Sergio Perez, with the nearest non-Red Bull a full second back.

There was some drama involving the reigning world champion late in the session, though, when McLaren’s Lando Norris approached a slow-moving Verstappen and had to take evasive action – prompting an apologetic wave from the Dutchman.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were ‘best of the rest’ for Aston Martin, followed by the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and McLaren pair Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
